We both lived in West Hollywood, exactly 1.5 miles apart. Certainly, we had passed one another on the street. But, we had never even crossed paths at social events. Thank goodness for the internet! We found one another and began talking. But, having both recently ended relationships, we were not in a rush.
We had been hanging out almost every day since meeting. JD invited Michael for dinner; and, Michael asked if he should pick up chicken from Ralphs (because typically we cooked dinner together). JD: Hey, do you want to have dinner tonight? Michael: Sure, do I need to stop by Ralphs and buy Chicken? JD: I mean dinner, like go out to eat Michael: ......oh!
After that first date, we didn't waste much time before moving in together. We traveled together. We survived job layoffs together. We scrimped and saved to buy a house in Pasadena (2018). Then, with a watermelon ring pop, we got engaged at Crosby Arboretum. Michael promptly ate the ring pop!
COVID and the neighbor's house fire (which also damage our home last year) both interfered with our wedding plans. But, here we are almost 15 years after that first meeting, finally ready to tie the knot (as if it hadn't already been tied years ago). We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with all of you who have been part of the journey!
